let's go

Lets go Caps!

i am wearing a shirt that says: Washington Capitals: 2000 Southeast Division Champs. Was it that long ago? That Jamey and i would go to 20 games a year?

Annie Greco is two years old. Frippy Greco will be 10 in less than 2 months. Time goes by.

Tomorrow is Pat O'Neill's Birthday. Happy birthday dawg. All my memories are good.

Today is the 20th anniversary of Sue's mom's death. Soon she will be gone longer than Sue knew her. How does time go by so fast?

So kiss your kids. Buy your dad a beer. Pinch your spouse's ass. Cuz life's too short, unless you dig it every day.

So dig it baby.

Dig it.

First Daft

Well, I have completed the first initial draft of Buying New Soul. It clocks in at 85,000 words, which is on the short side. So i may have to beef it up. And i need edit to for typos grammars and continuity. That fun comes tomorrow. Woo hoo!

But a first draft is done. Praise Jah! More like first daft once i start checking it. I make a lot of typing errors. My digits can't keep up with the old noggin.

When you start the first page of a novel, it's very daunting. You know it's going to be a two year project. Oy!

Now comes the rewrites and the marketing. I know a guy.

Now to fall alseep watching hockey. The Caps need a win or they are toasted.

Dancing on the rooftop

< dancing on the rooftop with Monica

Get down get funky! Yesterday was just so fun.

I am barbecuing little foil packets of marinated veggies that Cara brought to the BBQ and we never ate. They smell awesome!

Last class today got canceled. I got the text on the bus. When i got off the driver yelled at me. People get on where i got off, so i really don't know what the fuck he was talking about. Unless it was an express? Maybe that was it. I took the 17:00 112 instead of the 17:15. Anyway, i told him it was an emergency, that i got a call. And he let me off. I walked back to the Metro.

  • Back to work! Hooray! Did I say that? I just paid my credit card bill, so yes!
  • Just wanted to say hey! (so mum knows i'm alive)
  • My friend Lee manages a 4 star hotel downtown off of Gran Via, so he had a party up on the terrace yesterday. It was amazing! Great views of the city. They want our band to play up there in June. That would be kick ass!
  • The BBQ on Sabado was a big success. We cooked a lot of meat, played 60's psychedelic music all day long and then watched the Caps lose to the Rangers. Joder - the Caps are trouble.

Dark side of the moon bounce

  • Jueves. The end to a very slow work week. Full week next week. Euros! Woo hoo!
  • Carlos Delgado is on fire! And the Marlins look awesome. What the hell?
  • I went to J and J's for happy hour. It was very happy. All the guiris (foreigners) hanging out. I met this cute English chick. She just got here. I am old enough to be her father. Doh!
  • I am having a BBQ on Sabado because Chema and Anita are in Italy. Hooray! I can only hope, like so many before them , that they'll be gunned down in the Rome airport. Chema is the laziest man i have ever met. I grow weary of living with such a slob. And i am a slob myself!
  • "I like socialism," he told me last week. No shit, Sam Spade. Never would have guessed that one. When the penguins taught us the 7 Deadly Sins in grammar school, i thought, sloth, seriously? Now i know.
  • I did not put any 'goop' in my hair today and I came home from work and it looked like a Afro. Does this make me an Afro-American?
  • Ugh! I'm running out of material after two years! Forgive me.
  • I have lived in this flat for over a year. First time i've lived in one place for a year since 2006. No wonder i feel antsy.
  • Annie Greco was 2 years old on April 11th. Tempus fugit. Susan is having her party at a coffee house this coming Saturday where they will see a kids band she loves; Rocnocerous. One of their albums is called, and joke you not, 'Dark Side of the Moon Bounce."

does it really happen?

Could this be true
Does it ever happen to you
And can you prove
That wheels go 'round in reason
You take a step
In time,
To move together
-Yes
  • A lady asked me to help her carry her baby carriage down the stairs in the Metro. There were two babies in it and it was built like a Hummer. Kinda heavy.
  • I know why you never see martini glasses in Spain - because they get broken at an alarming rate. After a few BBQ's here this spring I am down to 1. My friend, Brian, broke 3 glasses (only one martini) last Monday. I had him sleep over on the sofa. But he's Irish, so I don't know what his excuse is. But no harm done.
  • The same Monday BBQ ended with a Summer in Raincoats acoustic jam (Juan on acoustic, Lee singing, me hitting the sofa and things with sticks. My favorite was Knocking on Heaven's Door, but we (me i guess, really) changed the refrain to Knocking Up Kevin's Whore. The entire room was in hysterics. Lee improved the rest.
  • I walked into the J and J Bar last Tuesday to buy a book and grab a beer. It became like Cheers. Every time the door opened it was someone I knew. We wound up playing scrabble. It's 2 for 1 happy hour. I normally work well through happy hour. I walked out of their five hours later!
  • I wrote something like 12,000 words this Semana Santa. That's a quite a clip. Last Semana Santa I wrote less, maybe 9,ooo words.
  • When I go on writing jags like this my sleep is completely fudged up. I sleep in 4 or 5 hour intervals. I wake up. I can't get back to sleep. I write. I fall asleep 5 hours later. Sleep of the dead. I wake up. I write again. Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat.
  • So i guess that's how i went a week without blogging. I just get caught up. Which is good. Becase sometimes the last thing you feel like doing is sitting in that chair and writing. But I do enjoy the process much more than when i was a youngin'.
  • I saw bunch of special needs adults on the Metro on Sabado. One woman had hair like Heat Miser. They seemed a nice enough group of four. One dude had physical problems and was very hunched over. It's horrible how many people you see like that here. So the guy is hanging all over this woman. It was very loving i recall smiling at them. And then the dude swallows her tongue and they are full tilt sucking face. I almost pooped my pants I was so shocked. I am sure i farted. It was not what I was expecting. I hate when anybody makes out hardcore on the Metro, including me. (See: Fatal Attraction Woman Patricia in November '08).
  • So nothing is more normal here. 2+ years later and it still seems as whacked out as ever. It's a lot of laughs. But far from normal.
